چکیده
Suction caissons are widely used foundations in offshore engineering. The change excess pore pressure and seepage field caused by penetration suction significantly affects the soil resistance around caisson wall tip, also deformation of within adjacent to caisson. This study uses Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian (ALE) large solid-fluid coupled FEM investigate changes during process installation sand. A nonlinear Drucker-Prager model is soil, while Coulomb friction applied at soil-caisson interface. ALE shown be able successfully simulate both jacked processes sand observed centrifuge tests. difference for found generated installation, highlighting importance using effective stress-based analysis consider evaluation penetration.

Serviceability of Suction Caisson Founded Offshore Structures
Suction caissons have recently been considered as a cost effective alternative to conventional foundations for offshore met-masts and wind turbines. Such foundation arrangements are suitable for applications within water depths of 20-30m. Most offshore structures have stringent serviceability limit states imposed on their design dictating the allowable structural deflections and accumulated rot...
متن کاملImpact of Micropiles Installation on Liquefaction Potential of Saturated Silty Sand Using Numerical Method
This paper investigates the effect of micropile installation into saturated sandy soil by means of finite element method. The obtained results from numerical modeling are compared with the received data from the site. The validation of software has been done by simulating standard penetration test. The effect of some changes in spacing (3m, 1.6m and 0.8m) and injection pressure (1cm, 2.5cm, 5cm...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Suction Mufflers
The aim of this paper is to present the numerical resolution of suction muffler configurations (by means of a tridimensional, unstructured, parallel and object oriented CFD&HT TermoFluids code (Lehmkuhl, et al. 2007) specially adapted to low Mach models (Lopez et al. 2012), coupled with the numerical resolution of the whole compressor domain (by means of a modular, unstructured and object orien...
متن کاملA coupled fluid–solid model for problems in geomechanics: Application to sand production
Some of the most challenging problems in geomechanics involve the coupling between fluid flow and solid deformation. In this paper we briefly present an overview of existing coupling methods to problems involving fluid flow and deformation and describe testing of a new discrete-based coupling method for problems in porous media. Modeled permeability and porosity distributions are compared to id...
متن کاملSuction Caisson Anchors - a Better Option for Deep Water Applications
As offshore exploration and development of oil fields reach water depths of 1,000 to 3,000 m, novel methods of anchoring production platforms become attractive due to cost savings associated with installation. Surface production systems that are viable in these water depths include Tension Leg Platforms (TLP), spar platforms, and laterally moored ship-shaped and semisubmersible vessels. Possibl...
